Athletic Communications
Defiance College's Athletic Communications department serves student-athletes, coaches, and administration of Defiance College in addition to local media outlets and fans following the Yellow Jackets. Athletic Communications carries out a dual mission as publishers and historians, striving to deliver accurate, consistent and thorough work as the sum of excellence. The department's skilled professionals promote Yellow Jacket student-athletes and teams through various forms of digital and traditional media, such as website content, the coordination of live streaming, photography and social media. They also serve as the primary statisticians at home events to track records and achievements of current and past Yellow Jackets.
The Athletic Communications department also serves a crucial role within the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in reporting results and statistics in a timely and accurate manner alongside a talented group of sports communicators.

Live Stream Information
Most Defiance College home games are available to stream live on your television, computer, or mobile device on the Defiance College Athletics YouTube Channel. Stream on your TV with the YouTube app on streaming devices and search for Defiance College Athletics.
The Yellow Jacket Sports Network produces all home football and basketball games. These games are live on YouTube and replayed on the West Ohio Sports Network throughout Northwest and West-Central Ohio. WOSN is available over-the-air at 26.1 near Defiance and 44.2 to the south. Additionally, WOSN is on most local cable providers, including Spectrum, Ayersville Cable and Arthur Mutual. Check your local listings.
Media Guidelines
These guidelines exist to protect student-athletes, preserve institutional credibility, and ensure that all athletics media access and content creation are coordinated, approved, and consistent with department priorities.
Access
Only approved working media, campus partners, and team content personnel may use designated locations or enter restricted areas. All access to coaches, student-athletes, administrators, and facilities for media and creators must be coordinated through Athletic Communications, and unauthorized attempts to bypass that office can trigger revocation. Coaches and non-athletic staff may request access but access must be granted by Athletic Communications. Freelancers and social creators must go through the same credential process as media outlets if they wish to capture video or take photographs at home events from designated locations, subject to Athletic Communications approval.
Credentials
Credentials for working media should be requested through Director of Athletic Communications Garett Mansfield via email at gmansfield@defiance.edu or by telephone at 419.783.2566. Credentials should be requested at least 48 hours before the event(s) media wish to cover. No credentials will be mailed. If there is a special circumstance or request, please contact the athletic communication office. Credentials are non-transferable, non-reproducible, and only valid for the named person and event. Credentials must be worn and visible at all times.
Interviews
Media members must adhere to the following guidelines regarding Defiance College student-athlete and/or coach interviews: (1) All requests must be coordinated through the athletic communication office; (2) Student-athletes are typically available for interviews, either in the athletic communication office or via telephone, before practice (generally 1:30-4 p.m.) and following the completion of practice; (3) Please give at least 24 hours notice of who you wish to interview; and (4) No interviews will be allowed before competition on game days. Post-game interviews with coaches and student-athletes may also be coordinated through Athletic Communications.
Radio and Television Broadcasts
Radio and/or television stations planning to originate a broadcast at a Defiance College athletic event should contact the athletic communications office at least 7 days before the planned broadcast.
Content Requirements
All photographs and videos of Defiance College Athletics events are to be used solely for news reporting or editorial purposes by credentialed individuals. For non-media members, Defiance College Athletic Communications reserves the right to free access to all photographs and videos taken at home athletic events. There is no access to practice or locker rooms without prior approval. Live streaming from the stands or sidelines is strictly prohibited.
Enforcement
Failure to comply with these protocols may result in removal from designated areas, removal from the event, credential suspension or a permanent ban for repeat violations.
